The Clouds of Andromeda

The red clouds in the image around the Andromeda galaxy are hydrogen nebulae. They’re extremely faint; astrophotographer Rogelio Bernal Andreo had to work very hard to make them visible above the background light of the sky.

The big question is, what are those clouds? …
